Winter Wonderland

On Saturday I went back to the Ice Castles in Lincoln, New Hampshire. You guys may remember my post from last year on the Ice Castles. The castles are made by harvesting and sculpting ice, all by hand. Each castle is made up of over 20,000,000 pounds of ice with slides, caves, and crevices to explore. At night the castle comes alive with color-changing LED lights inside the ice that are synced to music. It's truly a joy for children and adults alike. Make sure to dress appropriately if you are going to visit, it can be very cold inside the castle. Also, the ground is made up of ice and snow so I recommend wearing winter boots with good traction in addition to dressing for the weather. It may not look it here, because I was able to snag a lot of pictures without the crowds in them, but it can be a little crowded at night so just be aware of that. Both times I went on the weekend, but I have heard it's much less crowded on weeknights. Once you're inside you can stay as long as you want so just be patient if you're trying to take photos and you'll be able to get some really good ones.

They should be open for another couple of weeks. Check their website for updates and a list of locations. Be sure to buy your ticket ahead of time if you can, if they are sold out online there will not be any standby tickets.
